New Way to Protect Your 8x10's?
The irony isn’t lost on me… I know that being a “card guy” means that you may dismiss anything I have to say regarding 8x10’s. However, it’s because I am a “card guy” and an Ultra Pro snob, I wanted to test out this new product.
I have several 8x10’s. One of which is fragile, beat up, and not keeping ink real well. Honestly… it’s a hot mess but it’s been a labor of love. In order to protect it, I went on an expedition to track down the perfect protection for this photo.
I, personally, love the look of a Beckett Authentication’s 8x10 slabs. But… I wasn’t ready for that yet. At the same time, I heard that Ultra Pro came out with an 8x10 One-Touch Magnetic Case. So, I had to check it out.
Here’s why this product appealed to me…
It’s rigid and makes for great protection.
It is acid-free.
It has UV protection. HUGE for a Florida boy like myself.
It’s not permanent. I’ve been in this hobby long enough to know that there is ALWAYS someone else you could want to add to your photo.
It’s easier to use than your average toploaders.
While untested at the moment, I thought it could make for an easy way to get 8x10’s signed and protected on the go.
Here are a couple of issues that I have with this product…
The photo floats around a little more than I’d like.
It’s recommended that you use one of their 8x10 soft sleeves or penny sleeves. So, it’s not just a one and done purchase.
Really, that’s it. Personally, while it’s not as great as a Beckett slab, I think it’s a great product and recommend you check it out. If you decided to get one, please let me know what you think!
