Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver Autograph Signings: Now What?
By 2012 I’d been collecting Star Wars autographs for over a decade, but had never sent-in anything to be signed. Sure there were companies offering ‘choose-a-photo’ options, (like we have now for Daisy and Adam), but sending something already in my possession was a new thing.
I had been working on a Return of the Jedi one-sheet poster for about five years, mostly getting it signed at shows. Now, however, Bob Anderson the supreme swordsman behind Vader vs. Luke in Episodes 5 & 6, was signing in London and I sure as hell wasn’t grabbing a plane ticket to go myself.
A company that’s now defunct that’s bilked collectors out of thousands of dollars, was offering a send-in. I wrapped up my poster, sent some cash via PayPal, and amazingly a few months later it returned…signed. There wasn’t a Star Wars Autograph Universe to protect folks from the scum and villainy of the collecting world. Man, we’ve come a long, long way.
Things have advanced a bit since then. The Star Wars Autograph Universe has been fortunate to hold a few signings with Daisy and Adam, but this is the biggest and best, yet. If you heard Andy on the most recent Graphcast, it may be your last chance for awhile. This is the first chance for collectors to add them Rise of Skywalker pieces and official photos from Star Wars Authentics.
So now that you’ve bought in and doing your first send-in, it’s time to get cracking. If you didn’t order one of our photo options direct, and are looking for something to send to us, here are a few great options.
Daisy and Adam have now starred in three Star Wars films, and posters are always a safe bet to hold future value AND they look great on the wall! If you’re looking to star a new poster, I’d go with Rise of Skywalker or The Last Jedi. Most of those can still be reasonably completed, and the teaser posters for those films are great with just their signatures. The Force Awakens, while a great film, would not be complete with the Princess, who unfortunately is no longer with us.
I’m a big fan of the Hasbro Black Series and Vintage carded lines. Both look amazing singed! I’d get the Black series signed on the bubble (the plastic of the figure), or the card (cardboard) of the Vintage line.
Photos are the gold standard of collecting. While most originally started out with 8x10s, the desire to go bigger and better has really taken off in the last few years. There are plenty of great combo shots and solo shots available from all three films. Plus, we’re hoping that SWA will have new photos options right before the deadline when RoS is home-released for public consumption. We hope to have these options up for you to order direct signed as soon as they are available.
Funko Pops, Comics, Books, Props…tons of items are signed at each and every signing. Get something signed that you’ll enjoy displayed in your home! Try to keep an eye on future value, because at some point, whether in your lifetime or after you’re gone, the item will likely be sold. Don’t you want to leave your great grandkids a little extra pocket change or pass on the joy of collecting on to them?
Once you’ve decided what you want signed, make sure to check out our robust send-in guide. Make sure items are labeled and packaged safely for transit, get them in mail and off to be signed!
One thing I cannot stress is enough is PATIENCE. Your item will be signed. Make sure you track when it is on its way to us to be signed.
We will announce when the signing has been completed, you’ll receive shipment notifications (if ordered through our store) and in short order, YOUR ITEM will arrive in YOUR HANDS! Then you can show off to the galaxy! Make sure you tag SWAU on social media when you do!
Welcome to the world of send-in autograph collecting! When many celebrities won’t do conventions, this i the ONLY way to get nice signatures in the color and placement you want on your item. Check out our store to see all the options for Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver that we are currently offering!
Happy Collecting, and MTFBWY!
