Fall Signing Series: Werner Herzog to Sign for SWAU!
SWAU is honored to announce that Werner Herzog, the world-renowned German actor and director, will be signing for us as part of our Fall Signing Series! This will be Herzog’s first private autograph signing, and previously his autograph on Star Wars items were only available via Topps Star Wars Authentics.
For Star Wars fans, Herzog is recognized as the actor who portrayed The Client, an Imperial-sympathizing agent, in The Mandalorian. The Client is the man who sets the whole initial season of the show into motion when he hires Din Djarin as a bounty hunter to seek out an unnamed prize. After delivery of The Child, he pays Mando in beskar, with which we get to see brand new armor made for The Mandalorian. By the end of Season One, The Client meets his demise at the hands of Moff Gideon opening fire on the location where The Client, Mando, and others were located.
Herzog was also the man who caught the ear of show creator Jon Favreau in relation to how The Child should be portrayed. Herzog famously called the show-runners “cowards” for considering using computer-graphic imaging for The Child, and instead encouraged them to use animatronic puppeteering instead. The puppet and character of The Child has taken a life of its own far beyond the scope of the show, and fans of The Child (aka Baby Yoda) have Herzog to personally thank.
An accomplished actor and director well before The Mandalorian, Herzog’s has produced, written, and directed over sixty films and documentaries, starting in the 1960s. He also has worked in opera and theater settings. His most famous works include Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972), Nosferatu the Vampire (1979), Grizzly Man (2005), and most recently Caves of Forgotten Dreams (2010). He has received a star along the Boulevard der Stars in Berlin, Germany’s identical honor to a Walk of Fame Star in Hollywood, California.
Herzog is a must-add to any cast-signed project for The Mandalorian, and fans of international film should want to add him to posters and images they have of his works as well. Herzog also has a number of excellent image options from Star Wars Authentics for people looking to get him on a shot direct from the show.
Orders for Herzog, as well as all of the upcoming Fall Signing Series actors, will go on sale Saturday, August 15th, at 12pm ET. Stay locked on target to SWAU’s social media as we continue the announcements this week with more Signing Series names!
